Why hydrolysed pea protein is worth bragging about:
Hydrolysed plant-derived proteins and peptides function primarily as skin conditioning agents. Hydrolysed pea protein is prepared by acidic, alkalic or enzymatic hydrolysis of the pea until the desired molecular weight is reached. In a study of implementing a 24-hour patch test with these sample of volunteers, hydrolysed pea protein was found 100% non-irritating and non-sensitizing to all the human seeders.
Knowing that every skin reacts differently to new skincare products - be it serums, moisturisers, or body lotion; the use of pea protein as part of the formulation is godsend, and we are happy to tell you why.
1. It is a safe and gentle ingredient:
Several researches have been done to recognise plant-derived proteins that are non-irritating and non-sensitising; and hydrolysed pea protein fits to both these categories. Keeping sensitive skin in mind, it is best to consciously pick ingredients that are safe and gentle to the skin, especially when a moisturiser is among the most frequent product we use daily to provide to most fundamental nutrient our skin needs.
To achieve a healthy skin, we must acknowledge that every skin reacts to every product differently, but it is no harm for a brand to formulate products that provide the safest and gentlest alternative. Skinned’s Gleam Dream moisturiser was used by one of our Skinned muses, and we are delighted to announce that the results post 5-weeks were magnificent – and even glader to notify that Bay have not experienced any purging upon using our “Lock & Stay!” Rice Serum and Gleam Dream moisturiser.
2. It is 100% vegetable origin:
Skinned’s pea protein derivative are of vegetable origin, so if you are in major caution when it comes to selecting skincare products for your sensitive skin, know that pea proteins are being hydrolysed without the presence of genetically modified organisms. An addition to that, pea proteins also make a great alternative to soy or wheat derivatives, which is highly known for allergies.
What are the skincare benefits of hydrolysed pea protein?
1. Hydrating treatment:
Pea protein is able to effectively reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) on account of its barrier-forming properties. This improves the integrity of our skin barrier function, which inherently increases the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Your skin will be able to understand proper cellular hydration once the pea protein and sodium hyaluronate in our Gleam Dream moisturiser works in synergy to donate a high hydrating and toning effect to the skin.
2. Lifting treatment:
Fun fact: Hydrolysed pea protein contains different molecular weight that aims to penetrate the different layers of skin. The synergistic effect of these two fractions creates a more toned, lifted and elasticised skin. These results are the foundation to giving skin its strength and shape, which is a double threat against fine lines and wrinkling. If you are stepping into your 20’s, or you’re in your mid-30’s, you should consider putting hydrolysed pea protein on your skincare radar for a youthful and plumped skin.
